In 1995, designer Marisa Fick-Jordaan’s interest in transitional craft forms led to the start of a telephone wire weaving project in an informal settlement outside Durban.
 
Working as a mentor to a growing group of master weavers using a coiled basket technique, Marisa saw the possibilities of fusing traditional techniques with cutting edge design, aimed at a growing local and international market for high-end, handmade décor and designer products.
 
Since then, the Zenzulu™ range features in many corporate and private interiors around the world.
 
Designs are regularly updated and manufactured to the highest quality standards, eco-friendly and fairly traded, ensuring sustainable incomes to female home based weavers in four communities.

This design symbiosis has received many accolades and has become a South African design classic, receiving diverse awards and included in high profile design exhibitions Internationally.
